Carnduff is the administrative centre of the RM of Mount Pleasant, and the sandy loam farmland around it has been mixed grain and cattle country since the homestead era. The concrete inland grain terminal east of town, on the CPR line that runs alongside Highway 18 and splits the town north from south, is the largest facility in the area and the reason a lot of farm traffic comes through here.
